Key West, Florida

"Key Largo, Montigo, baby we don't we go to Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mamma.......something I don't...... how to get to Coco-mo, that's where we wanna go to get away from it all......." Yes, we did torture our children by singing this, or at least our partial version of this song, all the way from Key Largo to Key west! We had to get our picture taken at the "Southern-most Point" in the USA! I think the Northern, Western, and Eastern points are all in Alaska! Maybe someday....it's the only state I've never been to.
Every night they have a 'sunset party,' with street venders, performers, and food! The kids had a lot of fun watching the fire juggler, sword swallower, and the tuba player who was really bad, but had his dog collect all the money, so my kids loved it! And some random guy was there with a parrot, but at least he didn't charge us for a picture!
And not the best picture of the sunset, but you never know what you're gonna get when you ask a fellow tourist to snap a photo for you! After this picture was taken, we turned around to watch the last rays of the sun. Little Bubber was excited, "Oh, so that's where the sun hides!" We also walked the streets a little, but it's hard to browse through shops when you have a double stroller and 50 little sticky fingers touching everything! I told my hubby, 'this would be so fun without kids!' I think we say that everywhere we go! Of course, it's fun with our kids too, and I'm grateful for the memories we're making as a family. And all the work is worth it every time the kids eyes light up about something new we're seeing, doing, or tasting!

  1. Brandon and Famiy,

    June 28th - 12 Noon Utah time.

I look at your blog every few days. Wow what an adventure you all are having. I love the picutes and comments. Perhaps you will jet up to Atlanta. There is a place called The Wren's Nest". It is on Ralf Abernathy Drive. This is the Victorian home of Joel Chandler Harris. It got its name because a bird called a Wren lived in the mail box. Mr. Harris lived on a plantaton in the 1850's as a young boy. He would listen to the stories at night, that were told by the slaves. Later in life he retold those stories in the newspaper and then in book form. He used a makebelive person (Uncle Remus) to tell the famous Brea Rabbit stories. If you go there you will find a older black man that still retales those old stories today. It is small but a great place to take the kids.

  2. Ok, Here are the words for you to sing until you can't stand them anymore.

    Kokomo

Aruba, Jamaica ooh I wanna take ya
To Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go
    Jamaica
    off the Florida Keys
    There's a place called Kokomo
That's where you wanna go to get away from it all

    Bodies in the sand
Tropical drink melting in your hand
    We'll be falling in love
To the rhythm of a steel drum band
    Down in Kokomo

Aruba, Jamaica ooh I wanna take ya
To Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go

Ooh I wanna take you down to Kokomo
    We'll get there fast
And then we'll take it slow
    That's where we wanna go
    Way down to Kokomo

    To Martinique, that Monserrat mystique

    We'll put out to sea
    And we'll perfect our chemistry
By and by we'll defy a little bit of gravity

    Afternoon delight
    cocktails and moonlit nights
That dreamy look in your eye
Give me a tropical contact high
    Way down in Kokomo

Aruba, Jamaica ooh I wanna take ya
To Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go

Ooh I wanna take you down to Kokomo
    We'll get there fast
And then we'll take it slow
    That's where we wanna go
    Way down to Kokomo

Port Au Prince I wanna catch a glimpse

    Everybody knows
    A little place like Kokomo
    Now if you wanna go
And get away from it all
    Go down to Kokomo

Aruba, Jamaica ooh I wanna take ya
To Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go

Ooh i want to take you down to Kokomo
    We'll get there fast
And then we'll take it slow
    That's where we wanna go
    Way down to Kokomo

Aruba, Jamaica ooh I wanna take ya
To Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go

Ooh I want to take you down to Kokomo
